Vestibular Rehabilitation
An estimated 90 million Americans will experience dizziness at least once in their lifetime. Persistent dizziness can significantly limit activities due to falls, motion sickness, or the side effects of drugs used to treat these symptoms.

The Vestibular Rehabilitation Program of Return to Work & Sports Center, Inc  has been highly effective in treating individuals with vestibular disorders, enabling them to safely return to a normal and active lifestyle.

What is Vestibular Rehabilitation?

Vestibular Rehabilitation involves a thorough evaluation to determine or confirm the origin of the dizziness. Customized treatment techniques and exercises are then initiated to eliminate precipitating factors and to re-train the body to accommodate the aggravating positions and movements.

How will I feel during treatment?
Evaluation and treatment of your vestibular disorder may initially increase your symptoms.  Depending upon the causative factors, dizziness may be reduced substantially following the initial treatment or may be reduced more gradually as your body accommodates to the exercises. Who can be treated for a balance disorder? Vestibular Rehabilitation can be effective in treating a variety of balance disorders including:

  • Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV)
  • Meniere’s Disease
  • Age-related balance disorders
  • Stroke
  • Diabetes
  • Head injury
  • Motion sickness

Continence Program
What is Incontinence?
Incontinence is the loss of the ability to predict and control when urination or bowel movements will occur.  This condition is often accompanied by embarrassment, shame and the mistaken belief that nothing can be done about it.  It is a common problem that can occur at any age, affecting millions of men and women.

Common Types of Incontinence
Stress Incontinence
– Loss of urine with physical activity, such as laughing, coughing, or sneezing.
Urge Incontinence -
Loss of urine which comes on suddenly, making it impossible to get to the toilet on time.

You don’t have to live with it!
Incontinence can be treated.  It is not a disease, but a symptom of underlying conditions.  Many people can manage an incontinence problem with a conservative approach.

A program of exercise and biofeedback
Our program uses a conservative approach to address your incontinence problem.  We will work with you on life style issues, activities and exercises which have been proven successful in regaining bladder or bowel control for many individuals within 2 to 8 weeks.

Exercises and biofeedback, with surface EMG, are used to strengthen the muscles supporting the pelvic or prostate organs.  When weakened or stretched, these muscles can contribute to incontinence.  The exercises are a simple and safe way to help you regain control.

What is surface EMG?
Surface EMG is a sensor that shows your muscle activity in a non-invasive way.  It will enable you to learn how to strengthen your pelvic muscles.

Take the first steps toward bladder or bowel control!
You now have hope of regaining control without surgery or medication.  Our program is designed specifically for your needs ranging from small wetting accidents to major urine loss, or bowel incontinence.
